Powerful Prayer, The Gift of Listening, and a Brand New Book

Because it’s Friday–and because most of us love Fridays–I thought I’d start something new in 2016.

It’s called, “My Favorites This Week.”

Each week, I will share some of my favorite things from the past week, things I love, things I’m excited about, and things that I think might encourage you.

These may include favorite books, favorite websites, favorite ministries, favorite activities, and other favorites from our family and our ministry.

I’ll also be inviting you to share some of YOUR favorite things each week. I look forward to hearing about those things that you love and are excited about.

You can share your favorites in the “comments” section below or send me an email at helloredds@gmail.com.

What I’ve just finished reading

Because it's Friday--and because most of us love Fridays--I thought I'd start something new in 2016. It's called, "My Favorites This Week." Today, I'm sharing news about powerful prayer, the gift of listening, and a brand new book! It’s about cultivating a more powerful prayer life. It’s practical, it’s personal, and it’s a great resource for anyone who wants to take their prayer life to the next level.

Fresh on the heels of the hit movie “War Room,” Priscilla Shirer offers the most wonderful little book on prayer. It’s called, “Fervent: A Woman’s Battle Plan to Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer,” and it’s one of the most user-friendly books I’ve ever read on prayer!

Each chapter covers an area of prayer focus. Then, you are given specific Bible verses you can use while praying over that area of focus. Also, the book contains prayer cards that can be filled out, torn out, and placed in your War Room.

You can get your copy of “Fervent” HERE.

Where I’ve been visiting on the web

She offers the most wonderful book reviews, words of hope, and insights into daily life. She’s Michele Morin, and she blogs at https://michelemorin.wordpress.com.

Just this week, she has reviewed a book by Adam McHugh called “The Listening Life,” which sounds like a very interesting book on embracing attentiveness in a world of distraction.

Each time I stop by Michele’s site, I am encouraged and I am inspired. She makes me want to grow and learn and become wiser.

I invite you to drop by and pay her a visit. You can click HERE to do so.

Something I’m really excited about

I’m working on a new book project!

It’s a parenting book/small group study that is going to be called, “How to Win Their Hearts FOR LIFE!”

One of our area churches is going to offer the study in February and assist me in launching the new book.

I hope to get more details to you soon!

  1. This is a fun and new twist. I like it. I also like Michele’s site. Always inspirational and powerful. For me, I finished last night Life is Beautiful, a book I’m about to write a review for that I was asked to do. Priscilla is a great author and I’ve read many pieces of hers. Have a wonderful weekend Melanie and your church article has not left my mind.

    1. Thanks, Michelle!
I think I get too serious sometimes, and I wanted to add something light and fresh this year! Should be much fun!
Is the “Life is Beautiful” book about the concentration camps – I saw a movie with the same title?
I hope you have a wonderful weekend as well.
And, just a thought… if you ever want to talk over the phone, I’d love to. I walked with many friends through church hurt. I’ve available if you want to talk one day~
      Blessings,
      Melanie
