It’s Hope-Filled Friday, and I’ve got some great words for you today!
I pray that these weekly works of hope will fill your Fridays with an extra buoyancy as you swim through this day!
Today’s words are: Be Strong and Courageous!
In the New Living Translation of the Bible, this phrase is used numerous times in the Old Testament.
I’ve listed just a few of the instances below, along with those that were involved in the conversation about courage.
~ In Deuteronomy 31:6 –
Moses says to the people:
“Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid of them! The LORD your God will go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor forsake you.”
~ In Deuteronomy 31:7 –
Moses says to Joshua:
Then Moses called for Joshua, and as all Israel watched he said to him, “Be strong and courageous! For you will lead these people into the land that the LORD swore to give their ancestors. You are the one who will deliver it to them as their inheritance.”
~In Deuteronomy 31:23 –
The Lord says to Joshua:
Then the LORD commissioned Joshua son of Nun with these words: “Be strong and courageous! You must bring the people of Israel into the land I swore to give them. I will be with you.”
~ In Joshua 1:6 –
The Lord again says to Joshua:
“Be strong and courageous, for you will lead my people to possess all the land I swore to give their ancestors.”
~ In Joshua 1:7 –
The Lord says once again to Joshua:
“Be strong and very courageous. Obey all the laws Moses gave you. Do not turn away from them, and you will be successful in everything you do.”
~ In Joshua 1:9 –
The Lord says one more time to Joshua:
“I command you — be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
~ Finally, we hear Joshua speak in Joshua 10:25 –
Joshua says to his men:
“Don’t ever be afraid or discouraged,” Joshua told his men. “Be strong and courageous, for the LORD is going to do this to all of your enemies.”
