6 Bible Verses for an Anxious Heart

It’s been a week of incredible tragedy!

We’ve been deeply saddened by all of the events that have taken place across the United States over the past few days.

Maybe you are feeling nervous, anxious, or a little unsettled right now.

Here’s a post filled with hope and positive news to encourage you.

In hard times and in sweet times, we can trust the Lord. Here are six truths from scripture to build your faith and offer you hope today!

What’s a MAXIM?

A “MAXIM” is a brief or short expression of truth or principle.

Synonyms for this word include words such as adage, axiom, proverb, motto, theorem, precept, and truism.

Instead of the “proverbs of Solomon,” they could be called the “maxims of Solomon.”

There are many maxims that we hold to in the current day.

Here are a few that you may be familiar with:

“You’re either part of the solution or part of the problem.”  (author unknown)

“Never trust a man who says, ‘Trust me.'”  (author unknown)

“Nothing ever goes away.”  (Barry Commoner, American ecologist)

“A fool and his money are soon parted.”  (author unknown)

Maxims can be positive as well.

Here are 6 Marvelous Maxims That Are TRUE for Every Child of God:

Marvelous Maxim One:

God WILL take care of us – ALWAYS!

Are you a worrier?

It’s easy to become a person who worries! The Lord Jesus knew this and addressed it in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 6.

Over the course of about 9 verses, He says these words three times, “Do not worry…”
I think He must know how inclined we are to fret and be anxious over things.

He then reminds the crowd (and us) why we need not worry,

“And why do you worry about clothes? Look at the wildflowers in the field. See how they grow. They don’t work or make clothes for themselves. But I tell you that even Solomon, the great and rich king, was not dressed as beautifully as one of these flowers.”

In other words, if God takes care of the flowers, HE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU!

What a great reminder!

Marvelous Maxim Two:

God will STRENGTHEN our hearts when we wait on Him!

Sometimes WAITING & HOPE have a hard time fitting into the same sentence.

When we have to wait, we can start to lose heart.

This verse says, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed THAT I would see the goodness of the Lord iIn the land of the living.”

If you are losing heart in the waiting, ask God to give you back that confident expectation and assurance that He is ABLE!

“And He shall strengthen your heart.”
