This post is great. Look forward to adding some of your suggestions into my devotional time this week. Hey Lisa,
It's so good to hear from you. We miss you guys!
Praying for your kids is not selfish at all. It's exhausting, but not wrong at all.
And, I agree with you - praising Him as you pray will both lift your spirits and empower your prayers!
Maybe you can just start your prayers with, "Thy will be done."
He loves your kids more than you do and wants them to know Him!
Keep praying.
Keep believing.
Keep praising.
I'll pray too~
Love you guys,
Melanie

Hi Melanie. I got ready for church early today and was able to read your blog on effective prayer. Boy, I sure needed to read this. I find myself crying out to God often on behalf of my lost family members especially my oldest daughter and her family. I beg God to save them, to open their hearts and minds to who He is, His truth in His word, and where they are (truly) in their relationship with Him. They think they are saved but are not in church and have some very concerning beliefs. Sometimes I feel like I am making God a “genie in a bottle” by asking for my family members to come to faith in Him. I realize I need to focus more on who God is, praise and honor Him in all things and seek His face daily. I’m just so burdened with my children, grandchildren and other family members salvation that I am constantly asking for them to come to repentance and I don’t pray for what God wants. Truthfully I just want Him to want that too. I will take what you have written to heart.
