In reply to Kc Domingo. I don't think you should stop listening to Joel Osteen just because God didn't answered your prayer the same way He did Joel and Victoria's. God has different plans for each and everyone of us. And God did answer your prayers that were right for you and your family at that time. Maybe God still has a house for you and your family in God's timing. Don't give up on Him. And Joel is a great teacher, don't give up on hime either.

Several years ago; Houston ,Tx was hit by a severe citywide flood.Joel Osteen leads one of the largest churchs in the city. It used to be the home of houston’s pro basketball team. Houston’s mayor asked osteen to let them use his church as an emergency shelter. Osteen refused. Then a Tv news story about his refusal was released. Osteen backed down only because of the news story.

I do respect your blog on this, we all have our own opinion. But also take in mind, that even if God did not answered your prayers, it does not mean that Joel Osteen books is invalidated. Unanswered prayers are a redirection. God will never give you something that you do not need or is not for you. He may not give him a house, but he was given a home. Its just a matter of how you look into things. Joel osteen is a good author by the way. This is just an opinion. Thanks

I know this article is old but I just came across it and really wanted to comment. I agree that I don’t quite see the prosperity part in the bible-I do see the principle of sowing and reaping but nowhere do I see the degree of the example Joel gave about his wife. If anything I see many warnings about the love of money. However, I do see healing all over the gospels and the book of Acts. There are 18 specific healings by Jesus and its says he healed multitudes. I think those 18 are really important since they were highlighted and one is the healing of the leper, he says” if you are willing, you can make me clean”. That is in the bible for a reason. I believe that it is God’s will to heal all but it is not automatic. It is by faith and it doesn’t mean “name it and claim it “by any means. I mean the good fight of faith which is saturating one’s self with the word. I also know that fear stops faith and there are a lot of scary diseases out there. Joel’s own mother went through it and it was very difficult for her. She said she struggled with fear. I have been there and still fight fear regarding my health and the process I went through. I also believe that Paul’s thorn was being persecuted. We have an enemy in this life who comes to kill, steal and destroy. I wish that they weren’t put together – “heath and wealth “ because I see healing all over the bible but I don’t see any guarantee of wealth. Anyway, I appreciated your article. Many Blessings!!

Joel Osteen is nothing more than Tony Robbins in a preacher suit spewing out get rich quick advice to the weak and fearful, with a Pyramid Scheme-like approach. The 50% reduction, and growing, of his congregation is a decent sign that many others have finally caught on and are seeing through his snake oil, Ponzi scheme. In Jesus’ name, Amen…

I was reading his book The Purpose Driven Life I think was the name and it was actually that same story about his wife’s house that made me realize he wasn’t preaching Gods word no matter how good he sounds. It was towards the beginning and right when I read that I shut the book and tossed it in the trash.

i know this is an old thread but i stumbled upon this today and i have this impression on my heart to share this with you
i went threw a very similar experience like most of you about getting (the) house however i still beileve that it will happen
for me i know that you said that you got a house not the house you wanted but i still beileve that there is a chance you will
get what you want just because it doesnt happen that does not mean that its going to never happen i beileve that
you go through hoops some times to get to where you want in life and sometimes you dont its unpredicable only the man above knows whats best for us so there-fore i encourage you to beileve have faith keep pursuing stay determined that doesnt mean that you will get your dream come true but maybe its not your dream it could be an impression on your heart to desire something and pray for it and beileve for it because it could actully be for your children or your childrens children therefore your prayers faith and patience will not be to waste i can gurantee you that if you stay active and hold fast to your faith your dreams will come true in one way or another but when god does something its better than you expected now to touch on the joel comments i beileve that it does not matter who the minister is or what their approach is the lord is our shepard and if it was not meant for us to see or hear something we would not be put in the perdicerment i encourage you all to say a prayer before tuning in to any person saying anything doesnt have to even be a televangelist pray and ask the lord to allow you to hear what your suppose to hear and understand the message that it could be a way for the lord to speak to you in give no man no woman power everything is from god

that scriptures tells us that god created the good people and the bad people he controlls it all dont put so much pressure on your selves you dont have to question every thing the lord surely will make sure you hear what your suppose to

and please i encourage you not to give up your faith keep beileving keep hoping and one day it will come like i said if not in your life time surely in your decendants lives its not a bad thing to beileve to hope to desire

just dont give up or be bitter and sour about it
