Have you ever looked at two people and wondered how they ended up together?
How did they become a couple?
What drew them to each other?
One of my good friends loves to ask women this very question about their men,
“What was it about your man that made you fall in love with him?”
3 Ways to Show Appreciation to the Man in Your Life
It’s such a good question!
I’d like to pose it to you today.
If you and I were to sit down over a cup of coffee, I might ask you:
-What drew you to your man?
-What made you interested in him?
-Was there some quality in him that you instantly admired?
-Did he make you laugh?
Appreciation is a HUGE deal to our men!
Our guys love to be appreciated—especially by us!
And, if you are like most women, you could use a little assistance in this area. It doesn’t always flow naturally for us.
To help you, here are 3 ways to show appreciation to the man in your life:
First… Consider all of the things you admire and appreciate about your man.
What made you like him?
When you think about the first time you met, what made him stand out to you?
Maybe it was:
- His Sense of Humor.
- His Compassionate Way of Dealing with Other People.
- Maybe it was His Honesty.
- His Wisdom.
- His Intelligence.
- Or, His Strength.
When I think about my man, there were things I noticed right away that attracted me to him.
Truly, he was a gentleman, always opening my car door. I liked the way he treated me with gentleness. His kindness made me feel valued.
Also, he was madly in love with Jesus and faithfully serving in our church.
Additionally, a trait that appealed to me was his fabulous sense of humor. He still makes me laugh all the time!

Second… Write them down! Make a list of these things that you love, admire, and appreciate about your man.
Take a few moments to create a list of admirable traits in your journal or on your phone.
These are strengths and traits that you admire about your man as a person.
Read over them often. This will help you to appreciate him more!
Consistently, add to the list. Thank God for this man and these qualities.

Paul, in Philippians 1:3-4, tells the church:
“Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.
Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy.”
Finally… tell your man at least one of these attributes that you appreciate daily.
Verbalize these things that you have been thinking about and listing.
Text your man.
Write him a note.
Brag to the kids and to his mom. (Or to your mom!)
Open your mouth and speak words of gratitude to your man!

The Rather Ugly Truth
I’m not sure why, but as we grow older, it’s very easy to begin to focus on all of the negative things about our men.
As we age, we often get grumpier, more hormonal, and less grateful.
In addition, we can begin to grow very unhappy with our marriage relationships.
To combat this, you and I must begin to be proactive.
We must WORK AT appreciating this man God has given to us.
In fact, I think many women could save their marriages and make life so much better if they’d begin to be MORE grateful and LESS grumpy!
Today’s challenge for you and for me is to fight that tendency to become a grumpy, discontented, unhappy, older, married woman!
Who wants or needs that?
