Our pastor had us read The 5 Love Languages as part of our pre-marital counseling. I really think that book helped us to start our marriage on the right foot. It gave us knowledge in the beginning about each other that may have taken years to figure out on our own.

My husband is man of few words, and more of a man of great actions. I am just like you who loves to hear words. I was just visualizing all the women printing this out and posting it on the doorposts for their husbands to read (wink wink)

Thanks for stopping by to share your story with me. It sounds like your written words have really blessed your wife!
And, sometimes the written word is even more powerful than the spoken word.
Plus, you can read them over and over!

My wife and I have been married almost 40 years. I too am a man of few words. My wife has had cancer issues for the last three years, and has 6 months to a year to live. So I sat down and wrote her, about a dream I had. It was when we first met. I still remember the first time I saw her as if it was yesterday. But the dream was about her grandmother and my father in heaven looking down on us and steering us toward one another. I never told her about the dream. She loved it and she tears up every time she reads it. Maybe you don’t always need to “verbalize.”

I think these hit the nail on the head. For me, I love it when I’m appreciated. Sometimes he “says” it with flowers or a note or a date.
