Accepting God’s Invitation to Belong

Accepting God’s Invitation to Belong.

“But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine” (Isaiah 43:1, NKJV).

If God says you belong, you belong.

In a Large Room

As I sat in the room of Christian women, I was fearful that if they knew my past, my whole story, they might not like me. No longer would I be welcomed or accepted.

To my surprise, when I shared the intimate parts of my past, these women responded with empathy and understanding. Their hearts echoed, “I understand.”

While our individual experiences may differ, we all share in the universal human journey of loss, regret, suffering, and pain.

I was afraid I would not belong.

To truly belong to anyone, even this lovely group of Christian women, I first needed to get right with God. This involved acknowledging my past, seeking His forgiveness, and accepting His grace and love.

Did I genuinely believe that I belonged to Him?

In deep prayer and the Word, God unveiled His love for me in Isaiah 43:1: “But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine” (NKJV).

I am His.

Not only has Jesus redeemed me, but He also shows me that He has always been with me. God’s love was not based on what I did, but on who I am—His daughter.

Jesus accepted the outcasts, such as the woman at the well and Matthew the tax collector, and healed the bleeding woman and Mary Magdalene.

We All Need Grace

We are all born into this world with Adam’s sin that separates us from God the Father. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are reconciled with the Father.

Our past does not disqualify us from God’s love or desire for us to be with Him.

When we value our past more than God’s grace, we fall short of the life He has given us.

It was and is always about His grace:

Before we sin, His grace.

When we’ve sinned, His grace.

After we’ve sinned, His grace.

We are not alone in our struggles. God’s grace is always available to us.

All of us are God’s children. He longs for all of us to come home to Him.

But we have the choice: do we remain outcasts, exiled, or do we choose to belong? The decision is ours, and He is always ready to welcome us home with open arms.

If you have hidden shame from past sins and are a believer in Jesus, know that you have been forgiven. Live in the freedom of belonging to the One who says, “You are mine.”

I was so afraid they would not like me. But these loving sisters welcomed me, even though I did not know it yet; they knew I belonged.

Closing Thoughts – Accepting God’s Invitation to Belong

If God says you belong, you belong. Take your rightful place alongside your Father. You are part of His family, loved, cherished, and never alone.

What is so lovely is that God’s love is unconditional because you are His, and that is a beautiful truth.
