The Christian’s Guide to Help to Overcome Mental Health Struggles
Mental Health Struggles.
Mental health struggles show no gender bias or prejudice in any way; we are all at some risk of developing mental health concerns.
When considering the ever-struggling economy, the crippling housing market, the upsettingly low average income, and, of course, the impacts of the pandemic, it’s easy to understand why maintaining mental well-being has become a priority for just about everyone.
When it comes to your mental health, treatments and solutions are not one-size-fits-all solutions.
And Christians might be inclined to seek solutions that complement their faith.
So, we’ve listed ways to manage your mental health that blend both your faith and your health.
First Suggestion to Help to Overcome Mental Health Struggles: Rely on the Bible.
The Bible is so much more than merely a story of events that took place decades back. Indeed, it’s a holy book that contains some of the most rewarding messages and inspirational advice.
So, relying on the Bible must be a fundamental factor in upholding your mental well-being.
Why not take some time and create a list of all the most inspirational and uplifting Bible verses out there?
Isaiah 41:10 is a precious passage that can help us overcome fear in moments of anxiety.
Other excellent Bible verses for mental health include Deuteronomy 31:6, Romans 8:28, and Thessalonians 3:16.
Moreover, you could also think about printing these verses and keeping them in visible places around the home, such as the fridge or on the wall in an elegant frame.
The second Suggestion to Help Overcome Mental Health Struggles to meet with a Christian Counselor.
At times, we all need to talk to a trusted counselor.
It can be a tremendous help when you and I are struggling.
And, you can find affordable help for mental health struggles as a Christian.
If you’re a Christian who is struggling with an emotional or mental health issue, you might like to see a counselor who shares your faith in God.
The third Suggestion to Help Overcome Mental Health Struggles to learn more about Mental Health.
In the age of information, there’s no longer a reason to be uninformed.
And while most of us use our access to infinite information to scroll through amusing cat videos, taking some time to learn more about mental health is a wise choice.
Not too long ago, mental health topics were pretty much taboo, and this was plain because the world did not understand that much.
As we uncover more about how the human brain works, society has become more accepting of mental health awareness; with understanding comes acceptance.
So, another excellent way to manage your mental health is simply to spend some time researching your particular struggles and the world of mental health.
The more you learn, the more you will understand; this will empower you to better manage your mental wellbeing.
Fourth Suggestion to Help Overcome Mental Health Struggles: Join a Faith Support Group.
Faith support groups are increasingly popular in Christianity.
And, many are noticing that there is a need for mental health awareness from the church.
However, because some churches are not as well-informed about the widespread mental health issues, not all will have these kinds of groups.
Fortunately, churches that provide these kinds of support groups accept everyone.
So, even if your church cannot offer this solution, you can join a group with another church while still attending your church; you don’t have to be a member to access church programs.
The fifth Suggestion to Help Overcome Mental Health Struggles to devote Time to Self-Care.
Even though self-care can sometimes bring up feelings of guilt, devoting time to caring for yourself is not just necessary, but it’s also fundamental for mental well-being.
Self-care is not selfish or remotely unnecessary. So, we should all start viewing the practice as essential.
What’s more, there are also several Bible verses about self-care.
It’s not at all about self-indulgence, primarily when referring to these verses.
More so, it’s about renewing and refreshing the mind, body, and soul.
By shifting your view of self-care and its essential purpose in life, adopting these practices will complement your faith while upholding mental well-being.
Some great self-care activities to consider are things like going for a walk, taking up yoga, having a nap, or even reading a book.
The options are endless, and choosing one is as simple as deciding which is best for you.
Truly, anything that helps you relax and that you enjoy is a suitable self-care activity.
The sixth Suggestion to Help Overcome Mental Health Struggles is to journal Your Prayers.
The majority of mental health care professionals recommend journaling to channel emotions onto paper.
By doing this, we can identify our feelings. Moreover, we can also identify errors and flaws in our thought processes and recognize so much more.
When it comes to prayer, many battle to open their hearts to the realization that God is not a wish-granting genie. Rather, the Heavenly Father is a Father that we can trust to untangle our thoughts when we need to most.
By journaling your prayers, it will be easier to lay out your emotions on paper and turn them into prayers.
Seventh Suggestion to Help to Overcome Mental Health Struggles: Fall into God’s Love.
Strengthening your connection with the Heavenly Father will help ease your stresses.
It’s important to remember how God uses people as vessels to personify his intentions, such as vocalizing kind words through a friend.
Being aware of this will help you fall into his love and see his work through the world.
Amid the pandemic, mental health awareness is becoming more and more vital.
The world might be recovering, but the lasting impacts still devastate our society regarding mental health.
But with this, society is also becoming more forgiving of mental health struggles while access to essential services in this category is increasing.
As more churches adopt mental health awareness programs, religious followers have more access to religion-complementing treatment options.
