7 Super Ways to Pray for Elementary Age Children

Prayer.

It’s one of the best things we can do for our kids.

But, it’s hard to pray sometimes.

It’s also hard to know what to pray at times.

I want to Pray

Many of you have shared with me that you want to pray for your kids, but you aren’t sure where to start or how to lift them to the Father.

To offer you a little help, I want to share seven (7) verses you can pray, and seven (7) prayers you can use to pray for your kids.

Be sure to read to the end of this post where you will find a free printout you can use!

These are 7 Super Ways to Pray for Elementary Age Children:

Super Way #1Pray that your kids will grow up and mature in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man.

“And Jesus increased in wisdom (in broad and full understanding) and in stature and years, and favor with God and man.” (Luke 2:52, AMPC)

Prayer

“Father, allow _______ to be like Jesus and to grow and to increase in wisdom. Give _______ broad and full understanding and great insights. Allow _______ to grow and increase in stature, maturity, and strength. And, give _______ great favor with both with God and with men. Grant _______ favor with his/her teachers, coaches, instructors, friends, teammates, and with family members.”

Super Way #2Pray that your children will experience salvation and grow up in the things of the Lord.

“Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.” (1 Peter 2:2-3, NLT)

Prayer

“Lord, would you allow _______ to taste and enjoy the kindness of the Lord? Would You allow Your kindness to lead ______ to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ? And, would you encourage _______ to crave pure spiritual milk so that they might grow up in their faith? Get ahold of ______’s heart at this young age so that _______ might serve you all of his/her life. And, give ______ a heart to know You more and to live wholeheartedly in a love relationship with You.”

Super Way #3Pray that your children will be bold and courageous.

“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6, NLT)

Prayer

“God, would you please make _______ strong and courageous! Give ______ the courage to not be fearful or afraid. Don’t let ______ panic before the obstacles, challenges, and giants in his/her world. Instead, remind _______ that You personally go ahead of them on this journey. Comfort _______ with the reassurance and the confidence that You will neither fail them or abandon them. Make ______ fearless, courageous, and dauntless because of his/her reliance on You!”

Super Way #4Pray that God will give your children great friends like Jonathan was to David.

“Jonathan repeated his pledge of love and friendship for David. He loved David more than his own soul!” (1 Samuel 20:17, MSG)

Prayer

“Lord, would you give _______ friends like Jonathan was to David? Would you send into ______’s life the most loyal and faithful friend? I ask that you give ______ one friend who will pledge his/her love and friendship to _______. Would you give _______ one friend who will love _______ more than his/her soul? Thank You for doing this. Thank You for loving _______ enough to give him/her a heart friend – a loyal friend.”

Super Way #5Pray that your children will live God’s way.

“But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, and serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.” (Galatians 5:22-23, MSG)

Prayer

“Father, would You lead ______ to live God’s way? Would You also help me to lead _______ to live God’s way? Bring gifts into ______’s life much like the fruit in an orchard. Give _______ an affection for others, exuberance about life, and serenity. Give _______ a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. Lead ______ to be involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force his/her way in life, and able to marshal and direct his/her energies wisely. Grow ______ into a man/woman who lives for You.”

Super Way #6Pray that your children will be gracious and balanced in their emotions.

“The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy.” (Psalm 145:8, NKJV)

Prayer – “God, would You make _______ like You? Would You give ______ graciousness and fill _______ with much compassion and kindness? Would You teach _______ to be very slow to anger? And, would You also fill _______’s life with mercy? I ask that You give _______ grace, compassion, and mercy with their classmates, teachers, teammates, siblings, and with their parents.”

Super Way #7Pray for your children’s protection and safety.

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence. I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies.” (2 Samuel 4:22-24, Psalm 18:2-3 NLT)

Prayer

“Father, would You be _______’s rock, fortress, and Savior? Would you become the rock, in whom _______ finds protection? Lead ______ to trust You to be his/her shield and the power that saves him/her. Lead _______ to find safety and refuge in You. Be the One who saves _______ from violence. I call on the Lord. You are worthy of my praise. Thank You for saving _______ and me from our enemies.”
